WHO WE ARE.
ABOUT US
Craftara is a dynamic national initiative dedicated to promoting arts, crafts, and cultural enterprise across Africa. Through its flagship festival held in Accra, Ghana, Craftara brings together creatives, industry stakeholders, and innovators to showcase exceptional craftsmanship, foster business connections, and drive growth within the creative economy. With a vision to position Ghana as a leading hub for arts and culture, Craftara creates a platform for cultural exchange, market expansion, and sustainable development in the arts sector.
OUR STORY
Craftara was born from a simple but powerful idea: bring artisans together. Too often, talented makers work in isolation — perfecting their craft behind closed doors, unseen by the audiences who would love them most. We set out to change that.
By creating a shared stage at one of the most culturally rich venues in the country, Craftara bridges the gap between the artist and the world. From seasoned collectors hunting for their next treasure, to families discovering the magic of handmade for the first time, to artisans forging connections that last long after the festival ends — Craftara is where those stories begin.
What Makes Craftara Unique
A Living, Breathing Marketplace Craftara isn’t a gallery you walk through quietly. It’s loud, vibrant, and alive. Every stall tells a story. Every piece has a maker behind it who is right there, ready to share it with you.
The Du Bois Centre Experience Set against the historic and culturally significant backdrop of the Du Bois Centre, Craftara carries a deeper weight — a celebration of African creativity, heritage, and innovation on ground that means something.
Craft for Everyone Whether you’re a seasoned collector with a trained eye or a child touching handmade pottery for the first time, Craftara is designed to ignite something in you. Entry points for every age, every budget, every level of curiosity.
Artisan Spotlights & Live Demonstrations Watch craft happen in real time. From weaving and ceramics to leatherwork and beadwork, our live demos put the process on full display — because understanding how something is made makes you love it even more.
Community Over Commerce Yes, you can buy. But Craftara is fundamentally about connection — between makers, between cultures, between generations. The sales are secondary to the stories.

Our Mission
To celebrate, elevate, and connect artisans and craft lovers through an unforgettable annual experience that honors the power of the handmade.
We exist to give artisans the platform they deserve, to educate and inspire the next generation of makers, and to build a thriving community around the art of craft — right here in the heart of the city, every August at the Du Bois Centre.
Our Values
Craft First Everything we do puts the maker and the work at the center. Quality, authenticity, and creative integrity are non-negotiable.
Community Always We believe craft is communal. Craftara is a space where strangers become collaborators, and artisans become lifelong connections. Culture & Heritage We celebrate the rich traditions behind every craft form — honoring where techniques come from while embracing where they are going.
Accessibility & Inclusion Great craft belongs to everyone. We design Craftara to welcome families, newcomers, and experienced collectors alike — no gatekeeping, ever.
Bold Creativity We champion makers who push boundaries. Craftara is a place for the traditional and the experimental — because the best creative communities make room for both.
